Media Training 2015 Applications are now open
LOOKING TO BUILD YOUR SKILLS IN CREATING COMPELLING CONTENT?
PASSIONATE ABOUT DEVELOPING YOUR VOICE AND STORYTELLING SKILLS?
INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN MEDIA?
The Media Training Program is a 20-week capacity building program that works with aspiring media creators to develop and distribute compelling digital media content while providing essential leadership and industry-recognized soft skills.
Participants are given a space to develop digital media projects while receiving mentorship, training and guidance from industry professionals. Participants also get the opportunity to work with innovative leadership trainers to enhance their communication, negotiation, goal management, teamwork and leadership skills.
The combination of this programming creates a 360 training experience that builds both the soft and hard skills highly in demand in the media industry.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Over the course of 20 weeks, participants receive regular “content assignments” that they are tasked with developing and promoting on their own personally-branded social media channels. Each content assignment is focuses on developing key skill sets. Throughout all the projects and training, a consistent emphasis is placed on effective storytelling.
The Media Training Program is run in an “incubator style” place of learning and development. This means the learning environment is less about formal instruction and more about creating a space for exploration, risk taking, growth and development. Participants get out what they put in.
POV 3RD Street focuses primarily (though not exclusively) on video content and exposes participants to the world of film, tv and commercial production. While we welcome participants with all kinds of talents, those with an interest in these fields are especially encouraged to apply.
For the last 6 weeks of the program, participants focus on developing their own final projects either as individuals or in groups.
In addition to creating content, participants are tasked with distributing and promoting their work – learning about the different content platforms and strategies to better connect with their audiences.
The Media Training Program starts in November 2015 and runs for 20 weeks until April 2016.
Participants must be available and commit to attending 2 sessions a week: Wednesdays from 6:00 – 9:00 and Saturdays from 10:00 –6:00
